Kelsey held my Dad’s hand one morning when she came on shift until family could get to the hospital. My Dad was placed on a ventilator the day before and was just becoming more aware despite sedation. He was scared and Kelsey sensed it so she held his hand and continually reassured him that his “family was coming”. While my Dad has no memory of the day he was placed on the vent, his first memories were of Kelsey! He said he could sense her trying to leave so he would squeeze her hand tighter and she continued to stay and comfort. My Dad was so grateful and so is my whole family! Kelsey went on to continue to provide compassionate care to him the rest of the weekend.
