She was always there for us, even if it was just for a reassuring talk. She knew just what to say and how to say it and when he needed a healing hug.
Not quite sure how to begin this nomination without getting emotional and choked-up, Kelsey is an angel on earth our 86-6 angel! Through 9 hospital stays, equating to 179 days of inpatient treatment for CNS lymphoma, Kelsey was a true gift, we can hardly express our appreciation on paper!
Beginning with her compassion, it is second to none. She is so very sincere, so loving, so caring, so calming, and so reassuring not to overshadow her BEYOND REMARKABLE nursing skills and knowledge base. She is THE BEST! It is worth noting here that for many days, Kelsey was training a new B6/6 nurse, and it was a pleasure to watch her do so. She was very patient and thorough, had an excellent approach, and had a calming demeanor with the new staff members, giving them the opportunity to succeed and shine. As an RN myself, this made me so happy to see and so proud of her as part of the industry that desperately needs nurses. We cannot even begin to list the number of days and events within those 179 days of chemo and subsequent stem cell transplant that Kelsey was the light, love, and strength to get us both through. And on more than one occasion, it was Kelsey who got my husband through some very tough days. She was always there for us, even if it was just for a reassuring talk. She knew just what to say and how to say it and when he needed a healing hug.
There were many days of unpleasant chemo side effects, but we were never worried because Kelsey always knew just what was happening and what to do, and my husband always felt better physically, emotionally, and mentally because of our angel Kelsey. Not only were/are her wonderful nursing skills and reason to smile, but SHE made us smile! There wasn't a day that we didn't share more than a smile, we laughed together, every day! Just as they say, laughter is indeed the best medicine! When Kelsey was on, my husband was relieved and so was our entire family. Our adult children would ask us every day, "Is Kelsey on? Will Kelsey be on tomorrow?" There is zero doubt in our minds that my husband’s successfully fought battle with CNS lymphoma was made possible because of our angel Kelsey! God bless her, we love her, and we are SOOOO thankful for her!!
