This nurse deserves recognition, as this nurse is highly knowledgeable and skilled in maternal-child health. Many of these nurse's clients are new to the country from all parts of the world and face challenges with navigating systems to seek health and social services. This nurse takes extra time to understand the client's culture, values, and beliefs, as well as their perspectives, expectations, and decisions. During a recent home visit, a client’s husband shared the unfair treatment he experienced at a government agency. As the husband broke down in tears, this nurse acknowledged and validated his feelings. This family expressed their appreciation for kindness and compassion. This nurse engages and retains clients through trust and mutuality, creating an environment of emotional safety and connection for clients.

One patient said, “This nurse is such an empathetic, knowledgeable, and respectable person you want in your corner! Things can be so overwhelming while expecting your first baby. The visits meant more than she would ever know. I felt so uneducated, scared, lost, and confused. I did not know how to cope with everything, but this nurse made sure I knew what I needed to be prepared. The Zoom calls and in-person meetings meant more than she would ever know. I deeply appreciate everything she has done for me so far!

Another patient said, "I had post-partum anxiety, this nurse helped me a lot to relax and enjoy time with my newborn. The first few weeks after giving birth were so hard for me, and this nurse did an excellent job of making me feel better."
