February 2025 Honoree
Ken Roy, BSN, RN-NIC
As a nurse and transport nurse, Ken demonstrates confidence, competence, and the ability to make informed decisions in critical situations. His expertise ensures that he delivers safe and effective care, and he inspires trust among patients, their families, and colleagues alike. During difficult conversations with NICU families, Ken is patient, honest, and allows time to ask questions, helping them understand what is taking place with their baby.
As part of the transport team for nearly 20 years, Ken has visited communities all over our state, transporting and caring for pre-term and medically fragile infants. While orienting new transport nurses, Ken finds innovative ways to teach the skills necessary to be a successful transport nurse in the NICU. He is open-minded, kind, and fosters a climate of learning for others.
In the NICU, Ken is a team player, taking input from others to solve problems and come up with the best plan to deliver unprecedented care. Ken's skills and thorough approach elevate the care provided in our NICU and on our transport team, and it's our great pleasure to grant him our nurses' highest honor, the DAISY Award.
