This past year I have seen Kendal Stockel as a strong advocate of promoting excellence, quality, and safety in patient care in a variety of ways, but she absolutely stepped up and kicked it into high gear with the announcement of a local hospital closure where a significant amount of obstetric volume would shift to her department. Kendal rallied and worked with multiple teams in a short time frame to create a safe, welcoming environment for patients and families. It shows in her high patient experience ratings as well. This took many hours/days/nights to work through countless lists, and the logistics of opening a new unit, identifying needed construction, interviewing/onboarding a number of nursing support staff to name a few. Although still navigating through the many changes in obstetric services and even higher volumes this month, Kendal is an excellent role model of a supportive, compassionate, high performing leader.
