She always checked on me cheerfully, trying to keep me relaxed and not depressed.
The day I came to the hospital was so unexpected- a regular doctor’s appointment for what I thought was an allergic reaction to an antibiotic. My doctor ordered tests because I had a very high heart rate. He called EMS, and I went to Wilkes. I was admitted to the hospital and texted my son (who was driving from out of state). Kendal came in and explained what medication they were going to give me. But my main concern was my son being able to find me. She listened and said she would leave word that he was coming. Kendal was able to explain everything to me in simpler terms after the doctor examined me. She was very patient in explaining things to me and my son, and however many times we needed to understand. She always checked on me cheerfully, trying to keep me relaxed and not depressed. She was easy to talk to about my hobbies and stuff I like to do. She treated me like family, caring and concerned. When the doctor discussed options, Kendal helped me understand why some procedures couldn’t be done at Wilkes and why I needed to go to Winston. So, as I left, she came out to hug me goodbye. It’s what family does, and I will never forget Kendal and her caring heart.
