Kendall was always positive in the mornings and it continued throughout her 12-hour shift. She always smiled, but the most important thing is that she treated our daughter as a person not just like a patient. Obviously with our daughter at this age and having to go through so much for so long, she did not like any of the nurses. But Kendall was determined to establish a relationship and trust with our daughter. On the third day, my daughter was smiling and giving her high fives already. She was the only nurse who got any smiles during our long stay at the hospital.
In addition to all, I am also convinced she played an important part in our daughter's recovery. When everybody else's answer to our daughter's condition was to give her more medicine and more oxygen, she went above and beyond for her, thinking outside the box and finding a safe way for our daughter to be able to do more than just been confined to bed. Since that moment, our daughter's demeanor and morale changed immediately. Trinity management should give this nurse the opportunity to be involved in the training of incoming nurses and staff about bedside manner and how to have a positive impact on a patient's well-being.
