The DAISY Nurse Leader Award is given to nurses who are role models that lead with compassion and exemplary practice. A DAISY Nurse Leader creates an environment that fosters care, compassion, mutual respect, continued professional development, and ethical behavior. When I think of this list of characteristics, I think of Kendra. Kendra is kind, compassionate, clever, and fun-loving. She is known throughout the hospital as a joy to work with. Kendra radiates genuine self-confidence, focus, a positive attitude, and enthusiasm. She has the natural ability to engage teams through relationship-building, a keen ability to multi-task and juggle competing priorities, and thinks of imaginative alternatives when confronted with obstacles. She is a wonderful colleague. She is committed to her job, but also to her peers. She is the ultimate team player. Her kindness is unparalleled and she is a pleasure to collaborate with. Anyone who has had the good fortune to work for and with her knows this to be true!
