I truly believe that my mom would not be here with us today, if we did not have Kendra advocating for us from beginning to end, and I am forever grateful to her.
My mom was recently cared for in the Banner Baywood ED. She was in excruciating pain and she kept saying that she felt like she was dying. Some of the staff we had seen prior to Kendra had merely minimized her pain, thinking it was likely kidney stones, and said they would get her pain meds as soon as they could. As soon as I expressed my concerns and told Kendra how abnormal this was for my mom, she truly listened to me. She had the doctor come and reevaluate my mom within minutes and got her taken to CT right away, despite how busy both she and the unit were. I have never been more thankful that Kendra took the time to hear my concerns and truly believe my mom because it was not kidney stones. My mom had a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm and needed emergent surgery. We were then transferred to another zone of the ED while we waited for the surgeon and his team to arrive.
Kendra continued to check on us, making sure my mom was stable/comfortable as they changed over nursing care and she also made sure that my dad and I had everything we needed at the moment. She assisted with the transfer and stayed in constant communication with necessary parties to get my mom to the OR, stat.
Kendra was kind, compassionate, and extremely informative in a very terrifying situation. Above all, she listened to us, made us feel heard, and advocated for my mom to ensure she got the care she needed to save her life. I truly believe that my mom would not be here with us today, if we did not have Kendra advocating for us from beginning to end, and I am forever grateful to her.
Thank you so much, Kendra! You are a true blessing. My family and I are forever grateful for you and your patients are SO lucky to have you care for them.
