Once labor pains started to pick up Kendra would tell me words of affirmation such as I was strong enough to do this, I was doing a great job, and that I could keep pushing through the pain.
Kendra went above and beyond in every way during our 8 hours of labor and delivery and then caring for us after our son was born. During her entire shift that night she made us feel like we were the only thing that mattered to her and that we weren’t just her job. During labor, she stayed by our side almost the entire time and constantly helped us figure out new positions, pressure points, and different things to help ease the pain. She knew that we were a hypnobirthing family so she asked if there were certain words she needed to use with us throughout our labor.
Once labor pains started to pick up she would tell me words of affirmation such as I was strong enough to do this, I was doing a great job, and that I could keep pushing through the pain. When I started saying I wanted an epidural she double-checked with my husband to see how long I had been saying it to see if it was something I truly was wanting since I informed her I wanted to try and go as long as I could without getting one. Once she learned that I had only said it once she waited until I said it again and then we all three talked about if it was something I truly was wanting or was just saying because of the pain. She also helped my husband manage my pain as we got closer to delivery and anything I asked her to help with she did it instantly without hesitations or complaints. She even almost delivered our son by herself while waiting for the doctor to arrive in the delivery room. She did such a great job the entire time and we wish she could have been our nurse for our entire stay in the hospital.
