Kenlee is truly a very special. She cared for my mother with the utmost respect and dignity. The first morning after caring for my mother, she came into the room on her way out of the unit and introduced herself; said goodbye to my mother and reassured her that she would care for her the next night.
Kenlee explained to me exactly what tests my mother would be having the first day on the unit, what the best results would indicate as to my mother's recovery and what I, as a family member, could expect as we watched my mother recover from a stroke.
Kenlee was present the next evening when my mother went into AFIB, she handled her care with advanced expertise and reassured all family members with compassion. She said she would notify me if my mother's condition would change during the night. She was true to her word.
She called me later that night to let me know my mother was going to be transferred to the cardiac unit due to an irregular heartbeat. She reassured me that my mother was going to be in good hands on the cardiac unit plus she would be going to the unit to do my mother's neuro assessment.
About an hour later, Kenlee called me to report that my mother's heart rate had returned to a regular rhythm and she would be transferred.
As the person responsible for communicating updates to the family, Kenlee's communication to me was focused on my mother's welfare and making our family as comfortable as possible during this difficult time. Kenlee is truly a compassionate nurse and deserves this Award.
