Thank you, Kenna, for being amazing and caring!
All of the care that my daughter received at CHKD was wonderful, but Kenna really stood out. Her compassion and care for my daughter were so comforting. She explained (and re-explained) what my daughter’s 13 different medications were for. She volunteered small ideas to help with my daughter’s many issues after having Pectus repair. My daughter had pain at her incision sites more so on one side than the other and was scared. Kenna explained how that was very common after Pectus repair and that the more painful side was likely the side of the stabilizer. She brought in some heating packets and said those might help.

When my daughter was quiet or reluctant to speak up about her pain, Kenna said she is the same way and that it would really help for her to explain her pain. Her ability to normalize each situation but still listen to my daughter’s individual needs was so helpful. We had scheduled a therapy dog visit for my daughter and the dog became busy and couldn’t come. After seeing her first tears, Kenna called the correct person and scheduled another visit with a dog for the following day. It would have been so easy for Kenna to just say she was sorry that the dog couldn’t come. Instead, she took that extra step to get the visit scheduled and that was the turning point in a very hard day for us. It made such a difference. Thank you, Kenna, for being amazing and caring!
