I would like to nominate Kennadi for the extraordinary compassion, patience, and dedication she demonstrated during her care of a mentally delayed and confused patient. Throughout her shift, Kennadi went above and beyond to ensure her patient felt safe, heard, and valued. The patient struggles with confusion, asks the same questions repeatedly, and fixates on topics without hesitation or frustration. Kennadi responded with unwavering kindness – repeating answers as if it were the first time, every time. The tone remained upbeat and reassuring, her smile never fading.

She walked the patient through every step of her care, breaking things down in a way the patient could understand. Kennadi not only met the patient’s clinical needs but also took the time to connect on a personal level. She made a list with the patient of her favorite foods and activities and even created matching friendship bracelets for the two of them. It was a small act that made a huge impact. By the end of the shift, the patient was smiling ear to ear. Kennadi exemplifies what it means to be a nurse who leads with heart. Her compassion was palpable, and her dedication to providing person-centered care was amazing. When asking Kennadi how she was able to stay so upbeat, she replied with, “I just wanted her to have a good day”.

Thank you, Kennadi M, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
