The 7100 unit had a medically complex patient discharge that would not have gone as smoothly without Kennedi. This patient was being discharged home with a ventilator and multiple new medications. Complicating the discharge was a language barrier as the family spoke limited English and certain family members were unable to read written language. Kennedi demonstrated the ability to go beyond expectations for her patient by setting reminders for medications that were due on the family's mobile phone. As written language was a barrier, she had the forethought to put photographs of the medications in the phone alerts so that the family knew which medications to deliver. This was an innovative solution to a unique clinical challenge that allowed the family to be discharged and feel confident in providing cares at home.
