I came back to my room, met Kennedy, and felt instantly like I’d known her for years. She and I hit it off, bonding over our shared backgrounds, loving cats, and astrology.
Though all my nurses were lovely, Kennedy was so very special to me from the first hello. She made me feel less alone in a scary time with my gallbladder by sharing her own personal story with me. I had been having severe belly pain all week and ended up in the ER doing scans and was scared. I had gallstones blocking my bile duct and all in my gallbladder, so not only was I going to need an endoscopy, but a gallbladder removal. I’ve never been away from my 10 and 2-year-old daughters. I got admitted, had my first procedure and first time with anesthesia. I came back to my room, met Kennedy, and felt instantly like I’d known her for years. She and I hit it off, bonding over our shared backgrounds, loving cats, and astrology. Even though she was busy, she learned about me and invested her time into me and who I am, making me feel so loved and special. She helped me trim my flowers and put them in a hospital water pitcher with water and flower food. Though I didn’t need much, she was right there for me when I needed her. She made me feel like I had a caring best friend in charge of my well-being: who knew me, made me laugh and smile, and shared her experiences with me. I feel so lucky that I was able to have her here with me. She is a complete asset to this floor and this hospital. She is very special and I hope she will be recognized as a DAISY Nurse (my favorite flower for my favorite nurse). Thank you so much for everything!
