When the patient was brought to the holding area prior to her procedure, the patient began to experience severe emotional distress, and this nurse took the time to sit with the patient and rubbed her back, prayed with her, played soothing music, and offered comforting words to ensure that the patient was calm and ready when she was taken to the OR (despite being rushed by the surgeon). I am continuously impressed by how she composes herself. She is always ready with a kind word and a smile; she genuinely cares for all her patients and treats each one with the same respect, dignity, and compassion as she treated this patient. She treats her colleagues no differently. She is a true embodiment of a DAISY Nurse.
