April 2023 Honoree
Kenny Clune, RN
Kenny had a patient that was in CICU for several weeks. She was there with breathing issues that required ICU. I was the Staff Tech that day and helped Kenny with patient care. What struck me was the absolute patience he had with this particular patient who seemed very depressed. She was missing her family and her regular home life. Kenny took a wonderful opportunity to comfort the patient by asking her questions about her family. He also leaned into her while she was laying in her hospital bed to talk face-to-face. She wasn’t feeling good and she expressed that repeatedly. He then put his hand over her head and gently fixed her hair and continued to straighten it out as they spoke in a pleasant tone together. She really appreciated this kindness and really opened up to Kenny after this.
Kenny truly is a compassionate RN and deserves the recognition of being a leader in the healthcare field. This also inspired me to continue to give that kind of compassionate care to my patients.
