Even after I was discharged and waiting for my ride, Kent checked on me in the lobby, offered up some snacks, and ensured that I was well taken care of from my initial arrival all the way to my departure from the hospital.
I was helicoptered to the emergency department at Yakima Memorial Hospital after a climbing accident in the Enchantment’s wilderness area. The ED team at Yakima Memorial was phenomenal, but Kent Rumble really went above and beyond with my care. I’m a Search and Rescue pilot and have worked with emergency departments across the country on the patient transfer side of things, but this was my first time being the patient.
After the team stabilized my leg, Kent went out of his way to follow up with me and gather feedback on the nurses and techs who took care of me and ensured I had plenty of sandwiches, drinks, and care during my stay at the hospital. Even after I was discharged and waiting for my ride, he checked on me in the lobby, offered up some snacks, and ensured that I was well taken care of from my initial arrival all the way to my departure from the hospital. His bedside demeanor, insane level of hospitality, and willingness to go out of his way to ensure my experience at the hospital was phenomenal speak volumes about his character as a nurse and an ED manager.
Kent is a role model nurse, and that extends beyond patient care to the way he interacts with other hospital staff. It’s a stressful world in the ED, but Kent is always calm, collected, and extremely competent in his emergency medical care. Please recognize Kent for his outstanding work, which I have no doubt he gives to every patient that comes through the Emergency Department.
