Kenya was extremely empathetic and made my mom feel comfortable and confident that her needs were understood and supported.
From the moment Kenya arrived in our room and shortly after shift change, she had a smile on her face and introduced herself. She assessed my mother and made sure her needs were met. She came in frequently throughout the night, making sure my mom was ok. She updated us on test results and kept us informed about her pending transfer to the hospital.
Kenya went above and beyond to make sure I was also taken care of. She offered food and drinks and brought me a recliner, pillows so that I would be comfortable as well. My mom has gone through a lot of changes recently, losing my dad, they were married 62 years, moving from Virginia to Texas after selling all possessions and her home. Kenya was extremely empathetic and made my mom feel comfortable and confident that her needs were understood and supported.
Kenya spent time with us at the bedside speaking of her family, her experience as a nurse, and her future goals. This discussion with her validated that we were in the right place at the right time. God places people in our lives for a reason. Kenya was her nurse the 2nd night as well, 32 hours in ER, and again showed her kindness and professionalism. As a nurse myself, I have high expectations, and Kenya is compassionate, trustworthy, kind, and educated. She met all my expectations of what a nurse should be.
