She said. ‘I care about you. You are a valuable member of our team, and your health is of great importance to me. Will you please let me buy you a good pair of shoes?’
I have had the pleasure of working with Kenzee several times over the past year. There have been several stories I could tell you about Kenzee that make her eligible for such a prestigious award. But, there is one story in particular, that makes her standout as a coworker and a nurse. I was an aid on the floor in PCU and we were very busy I stopped for a second and complained about my feet hurting. She looked at my shoes and said I can see why. We giggled about my old shoes and went on about our work. A couple of weeks went down the road, and Kenzee saw I was still wearing the same shoes. Kenzee asked me if she could please buy me new shoes. I kindly declined, telling her I could afford new shoes, just not right now. Kenzee pulled me aside and told me she didn’t want me to think of it as charity. She said. ‘I care about you. You are a valuable member of our team, and your health is of great importance to me. Will you please let me buy you a good pair of shoes?’ I haven’t decided to take her up on her offer, as I’m a pretty prideful person. But her sincerity and desire to help me as a coworker speaks volumes about the kind of person she is. She treats her patients the same way. Every single person in her care is taken care of in every aspect, including their physical, emotional, and mental well-being. It always amazes me that she knows just who to call in the hospital to fill the needs of her patients or their families. Kenzee is an example of excellence and deserves to be recognized.
