Kenzie is the type of nurse that every patient wishes they had. She is kind, compassionate, pragmatic, and empathetic. My son has been hospitalized for over two weeks with a hepatic abscess, and we have been lucky to have Kenzie as our nurse several times. There have been so many moments of uncertainty and fear, and she has been an unwavering source of support. Our situation is complicated by the fact that my son has autism. He needs people around him who can meet him where he is and help him to feel comfortable. Kenzie has not been a champion for my son and has taken a thoughtful approach to every interaction with him. She has also been there for us as we struggle through this uncertain territory as parents. She takes the time to explain everything to us multiple times and is so validating and calming. She has come to check on us even when she is not our nurse. Her genuine kindness and compassion make her stand out amongst other fabulous nurses. She goes the extra mile every single time. She has celebrated his improvements and comforted us during setbacks. Even on the darkest day, her presence is so comforting and has really helped get us through this tumultuous time. I will never forget Kenzie's kindness during this trying time. She is truly the silver lining of this whole situation.
