I am a 67-year-old female admitted to Elyria Medical Center after a fall at home resulting in a fractured left hip. I have a history of MS. I experienced severe worsening of my MS symptoms which was something I had never experienced before. I was having difficulty relating to the nurses about my pain (surgical and increases in muscle spasticity). I was very frustrated by the lack of understanding by the nurses regarding my PRN medication. I am a retired RN and in the past worked for 20-plus years at Elyria Medical Center. Keren took extra time to discuss with me how to use my PRN medications to help with my pain management. She always answered my call light in a timely manner even when she was not assigned to me. She listened to me about my history of MS. She was very compassionate and this helped decreased my anxiety. I can't express how grateful I am to her. She is an excellent example of what an RN should be. I can only wish that there were more nurses like her. I don't think I could have managed my stay in the hospital without her.
