Keri Rodella, RN, BSN was nominated for the DAISY Award by a patient.
I had an awful post surgical experience and spent all day in severe pain. The night charge nurse moved me to one of Keri’s rooms. Keri called the doctor and worked out a pain medicine solution with dosing and timing so I was comfortable, she dried my tears, hunted down food for me at 2:00AM since I hadn’t eaten all day, checked in on me repeatedly and took it upon herself to call the doctor and get me throat spray when she heard me coughing and crying from the pain. She came and changed my ice pack every 2 hours without me having to ask, she was obviously busy and tired but she still was smiley and pleasant. She made time to make sure I never needed anything. Anytime I went to press the call button, she would appear to check on me before I pressed it.
