Kerlande Hippolyte, RN

Kerlande deserves the DAISY Award because she goes above and beyond without hesitation. She puts care in all she does, truly putting CARE back into HEALTHCARE. Kerlande was very professional. She had a positive attitude and was very kind and understanding. Kerlande came into my hospital room this morning during bedside shift report and immediately greeted me with a smile. She informed me that she would return shortly in the event that I needed anything. When she returned, I shared with her that I had not showered since I was admitted to the hospital. Although I was not able to physically get up and shower, Kerlande did not hesitate to help me. Kerlande reassured me that she would take great care of me and freshen me up. Kerlande then gathered all of her supplies as she prepared for my bath. However, she did so with so much compassion and genuine care. She took her time, ensuring I was comfortable and allowing me to do what I could, while still providing assistance when needed. She then got me a clean pure wick and ensured that it was connected properly. This simple act of kindness, a bath, made a tough situation a lot easier. Kerlande then advocated for me to ensure that I had my MRI and that pain management was on my case for comfort. These are all the reasons why I believe Kerlande is a DAISY Nurse.
