June 2021 Honoree
Kerri Hartnett, BSN, RN, CEN
A nonverbal developmentally delayed patient with a significant hearing impairment presented to the Emergency Department with no identification. Nurse Kerri Hartnett assessed the patient's overall appearance and concluded the patient was not homeless and someone is likely missing her. Kerri checked online for missing persons but found no clues. The following day, the patient's identity still unknown, Kerri continued searching on her own accord for the patient on missing persons websites. She searched Facebook and found the patient was indeed a missing person! She showed the post to the patient who became excited and indicated that the post was about her. Kerri contacted the appropriate authorities and reunited the patient with her family!
Thank you, Kerri, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
