Kerri went outside with a bucket, packed it full of snow, brought it to my patient so she could enjoy the snow and make a snowman.
Kerri is the most caring, genuine, funny, creative, selfless person I have had the pleasure to work with. She is always thinking of what is best for her patients/others. Even the smallest things, her patients do not have to worry about their care. One example of her unending compassion, Kerri was taking care of a mentally delayed patient who enjoyed playing with little toy Mattel cars. As an incentive to comply with the treatment plan, and to be fun, Kerri brought him a pack of Mattel toy cars the next day and would play cars with him every break she had. He had so much fun! It was amazing to watch.
Another example of Kerri's thoughtfulness happened during the recent inclement weather. I was super swamped with my patient load. Kerri stopped by one of my rooms to help. After making a connection with my patient, Kerri knew just the thing to brighten this patient's day: Kerri went outside with a bucket, packed it full of snow, brought it to my patient so she could enjoy the snow and make a snowman (my patient was sad because she could not get out in the snow to play with her great-grandkids). Kerri also brought all of the COVID patients buckets of snow to play and build snowmen. To see these patients' eyes light up, and tear up, from Kerri's natural way of making peoples' lives better was completely amazing and gave me chills! The next day, my patient made me go get Kerri so she could thank her again for making her day and lifting her spirits.
I have way too many stories like this about Kerri. I wish I could remember and list them all. The list would be a mile long! Not only is Kerri an amazing nurse for patients, but she is also a fabulous team player! There is not an ounce of laziness in Kerri! She is always going around making sure everyone is ok and has what they need. Further, Kerri is not too shy to go get the EVS cart and clean her patients' rooms whenever EVS is overwhelmed. No matter what, Kerri has you covered!
