Kerry embodies patient advocacy and works tirelessly in her efforts to instill this wisdom in nurses and others.
Kerry Milton began her work at St. Tammany Parish Hospital (now St. Tammany Health System) in Covington, LA, in 1982. She has devoted 40 years of service to enhancing, nurturing, and advancing the practice of nursing. Kerry is a role model, mentor, coach, counselor, and leader of the System’s nursing team and other colleagues across all disciplines. Her professional philosophy has always been “What’s best for our patient?”

Kerry embodies patient advocacy and works tirelessly in her efforts to instill this wisdom in nurses and others. Kerry exemplifies professionalism, compassion, energy, and skill. She recognizes the importance of growing the next generation of nursing professionals and works with educational institutions and others to keep this focus area in the spotlight. In her years of service, Kerry has been integral to St. Tammany Health System’s expansion of healthcare services across the region for patients and their families. Her dedication and guidance are an important part of the organization’s success, awards, and recognitions in the areas of performance, safety, quality, and patient and staff satisfaction.

Kerry keeps her eye on the pulse of nursing – she encourages the team to enhance their clinical skills and empowers them to work smarter. As the pandemic made its way to STHS, Kerry supported the nursing team during this most challenging time. She motivated them to be innovative in the delivery of patient care, and the safety of the nursing team and others was always top of mind for Kerry.

On behalf of St. Tammany Health System and its Board of Commissioners, I appreciate the opportunity to express gratitude to Kerry for being an inspiration to nurses at all stages of their careers and to recognize her commitment to the compassionate care of patients for four decades. Kerry was recently quoted as follows: “I can’t say enough about this team. Any success I’ve had is thanks to them.” She is a true servant leader who has and will continue to encourage and lead St. Tammany Health System’s nursing team into the future.
