August 2026 Honoree
Keshia Scott, RN
To begin, I'd like to thank any staff who have assisted me in my recovery so far. However, nobody gave me a sense of assurance, made me feel I didn't need to apologize, or made me feel like I should be afraid to ask for anything. She made it clear at the start of her shift that she would do anything and everything in her power to focus on my care. She spoke and explained everything clearly and left no questions unanswered. She was also very polite and professional; not just with me but with her coworkers, surgery staff, and my visitors. Above and beyond was clearly her mission. I could tell she sets a standard and takes pride in upholding it. She wasn't boastful, more so modest.
I believe she exemplified what patient care is all about. She showed accountability, understanding, and patience, and she constantly made sure I didn't feel like I was asking too much. I felt like I was her only patient, even though I wasn't. I felt seen, heard, and that whatever thoughts I had were valid even if I didn't think so. She was gentle in handling me. I just had a really bad rupture of my appendix. My pain and spirit were up one minute and changed the next, but she didn't waver. Even when I cried from pain and frustration, she refused to let me and made sure I took tissues that she grabbed for me to dry my eyes; she kept my spirit balanced, so much so that I requested her for the remainder of my stay. I recommend Keshia for recognition for her work ethic and outstanding representation of what a professional looks like.
