Kettelie's dedication and devotion to her patients are unmatched. Her priorities include the well-being, safety, healing, and empowerment of her patients.
Kettelie Occeas delivers competent, compassionate care while collaborating with patients and their families fostering communication, hope, and a sense of security. She works tirelessly and diligently and is overly patient and understanding to her patients and the members of her patients’ families. Kettelie understands the emotional issues that families experience when their loved ones suffer. Thus, she takes her time to explain to her patients’ families every detail concerning the illness and the recovery journey.
An instance I recall was when she was scheduled to visit a patient for an admission. She arrived at the patient’s door, rang the doorbell, and the patient answered in a weak voice, “I’m coming”. After five minutes, the patient did not open the door. She called him again, and he said, “I’m coming”. Time passed, and she asked, “What’s the matter?” That is when he indicated, “I’m on the floor”. Another tenant who knew the patient arrived at the door, and gave Kettelie the security manager’s phone number. When Kettelie reached out, the security manager verbalized he could not open the door as per their policy. Immediately she called 911. When EMS opened the door, the patient was laying on the floor with a BP of 65/50. The patient was whisked to the hospital and she notified his family. She felt relief, as she easily could have walked away but instead had a persevering spirit, and was able to assist the patient.
She exemplifies the type of nurse that patients and families recognize as an outstanding role model. Her competence and compassion inspire others. She values the comfort of her patients, and that of their families, comes first. For her, you can tell that nursing is a calling, and she is comfortable in all roles. The smiles on the patients’ faces demonstrate her knowledge, clinical skills, and commitment to her work. These attributes reflect our nursing philosophy and mission statement, which demands care, compassion, and the undeniable desire to help those in need. Her dedication and devotion to her patients are unmatched. Her priorities include the well-being, safety, healing, and empowerment of her patients. She meticulously takes care of her patients, and some of them ironically are unhappy when discharged from the agency and are emotionally saddened to bid her farewell. To others, she is part of their families. Therefore, she is undoubtedly a nurse whose care and compassion for her patients, traverse a routine call of duty.
