Kevin Hiltz was selected after receiving a nomination from an incarcerated patient who shared how Kevin showed him impartial care despite his criminal status and crimes.
The patient shared. "I'm nominating this nurse, even though I'm incarcerated. Kevin treated me with the utmost respect and made me feel like I was just like any other patient. Kevin didn't judge me by my crimes but as any other person. That's how a person in this role should act, and if I had to do it over, I would definitely request this nurse's services. Not saying the other nurses were bad; they all were good, I just had the pleasure of being around Kevin the most. So I’m casting my vote for Kamala as president and Kevin for this award."
