Kevin is simply fantastic and a real credit to the Trust and profession. I had to take my elderly gran who has dementia to A&E and onward to the plaster room on 2 occasions due to broken wrists.
On the first occasion I met Kevin he was so patient and caring to my gran and took his time to explain everything to her, he even gauged in minutes she had a wicked sense of humour and had a little joke or two with her.
We had to return to Fracture clinic a few days later as my gran had managed to remove her plaster and again he was there with a smile to greet us and suggested we tried a different type of plaster as the saw distressed my gran previously - this was a huge relief and I was very grateful for the individual care being given.
The next visit (a short 5 weeks later) my gran had broken her other wrist, Kevin was again there to greet us and remembered my gran. This made things very easy as he knew what not to try which made all the difference.
On our return a few days later to Fracture clinic Kevin came along specially to meet us and speak with the doctor to advise on the history of what had happened previously what worked and what did not, this took the pressure off me as my gran's guardian and was very much appreciated. It also made the visit smoother and less stressful for my gran.
Kevin is a superstar, his personal touches and the way he was with my scared and confused gran was a lifesaver and meant the world to me. I could not have asked for better care and compassion......oh and patience!
Kevin is one in a million and I feel that to him this was just normal care given to all his patients, but he needs to be recognized for the exceptional care over and above anything I could have expected.
