He is exceptional and a true role model. Even when we were extremely upset and fearful, he consistently reassured us with such positivity. Khalil's genuine care and kind approach to my daughter made a world of difference.
In 2008, Nurse "Khalil" joined King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC) as a registered nurse (RN). Currently, he is working in the Radiotherapy Unit. Over the years, Khalil's dedication to compassionate care, professionalism, and teamwork has truly set him apart as a role model in our unit. He demonstrates an unprecedented commitment to the outstanding care of our most vulnerable patients—the pediatric population. These patients often require not only medical treatment but also emotional support and reassurance. Khalil excels in providing this specialized care, tailoring his approach to meet the unique needs of each child in the center.

One day, during my routine morning rounds, I had the privilege of meeting the father of a six-year-old patient who underwent radiotherapy treatment in our unit for a brain tumor. The father's genuine expressions and heartfelt words clearly showed how the Nurse "Khalil" made a difference in the child's and family's life.

“We were in shock as a family when my daughter was diagnosed with a brain tumor. The decision to start radiotherapy was overwhelming for all of us. I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to all the staff at King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC) for their unwavering commitment and excellent care, especially to the Nurse “Khalil” in the Radiotherapy Unit. He is exceptional and a true role model. Even when we were extremely upset and fearful, he consistently reassured us with such positivity. Khalil's genuine care and kind approach to my daughter made a world of difference. She didn’t even require general anesthesia during radiotherapy sessions because of how Khalil managed her care, as he explained everything clearly and kindly, which was especially helpful for worried parents and scared children. My daughter completed her radiotherapy sessions safely and on time because of him. Khalil usually told her nice stories and offered her small gifts after each radiotherapy session, which transformed our experience to the highest level.

Khalil also cared for me as a parent. His excellent communication skills kept me informed and supported during the treatment process of my daughter. He helped schedule her radiotherapy sessions to fit my work hours. This level of consideration and support made a significant impact on our ability to cope during this challenging time. On behalf of my family and myself, we want to say, Thank you, Khalil. You deserve to be recognized because you are an exemplary nurse.” The patient’s father stated.

Khalil’s positive attitude, professionalism, exceptional communication, and collaborative skills made him an invaluable asset to our radiotherapy team. His compassionate approach, especially towards pediatric patients, exceeded the high standards of care we strive to provide. It is with great pleasure that I nominate Khalil for the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. His compassionate care truly embodies the spirit of the nursing profession and profoundly impacts the lives of our patients and their families.
