July 2023 Honoree
Kia Michael, RN
I have been an RN for 31 years and employed at the same place of employment for 30 years. I truly became a nurse, for no other reason than to care for those in need. I recently spent 3 nights on 2 West. During that time, I met multiple nurses, PCAs, and physicians. One sticks out....her name is Kia.
Kia is a mother of four, whose husband farms. I know these things about her because she actually took the time to talk to me while she cared for me. Kia was the most thorough of all. She did a complete head-to-toe assessment, which she did patiently and compassionately. She went above and beyond with each step that she made in my room. I truly appreciate the compassion that she showed me during my stay.
Unfortunately, I only had her as my nurse on my last day at the hospital. She listened about the pain that I was experiencing, and she brought me heat packs or ice packs that eased my mind, multiple times. I want to thank Kia for showing me her love for nursing. This hospital should be very grateful to have my nurse named Kia!

Thank you, Kia, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
