My son has Trisomy 18 and his bowels have to be manually regulated. Nurse Kiara came in on her first day, asking all the questions she needed to ask.
She said she didn’t like that he was on all of his pooping medications and he still needed assistance to use the bathroom. She put him on his playmat and said: "Don’t worry; my goal is to get him regular and pooping on his own." She did all the exercises she was trained to do. And kept at it, and before I knew it, my son had pooped three times on his own and hadn’t done that his entire life.
She asked me whether it ok to sit on the porch with him. He only really goes out of the house for doctor's appointments. He went outside with her, and he loved it. We absolutely adore having her here with us. She definitely was destined to become a nurse, and you can tell she absolutely loves every part of her career. It’s not just a career for her; it’s her passion.
