Kiarah Castillo had been the nurse taking care of my husband. My husband has had Parkinson’s disease for 23 years. Because he has slurred speech, it is difficult to understand him. His body is rigid and difficult to move and turn. He has an IV for antibiotics. He was restless and agitated last night and pulled out his IV which made them apply wrist restraints.

When I arrived this morning, Kiarah was in his room. She was very kind, and considerate, and untied my husband as long as I keep an eye on him. Kiarah spent time explaining to me what happened to my husband last night. She explained it very well and tried hard to communicate with my husband despite of his condition. She explained all the medications he is taking and acting side effects. She is very approachable and pleasant to talk with. When my husband was discharged, she explained everything. Post-discharge planning was well explained and easy to understand by the patient.

My husband stayed in the hospital for 3 days and so far, she was the best nurse. She is an excellent nurse who goes above and beyond her duties and responsibilities. She is compassionate and makes a special connection with the patient and family. She made time to explain and educate the patient. She is an Extraordinary Nurse.
