Kiernan McGill, BSN, RN

I was contacted by a doctor via phone.  He wanted to recognize Kiernan for her extraordinary work in advocacy for an elderly patient who presented to the ER with needing a possible high-risk procedure.  He said that Kiernan went above and beyond to honor the patient's wishes.  She reached out to multiple family members to get her required documentation and to avoid extreme/excessive care that the patient did not want.  What I thought was also extremely impactful is that not only did Kiernan advocate for this patient, but she had a big impact on the doctor. He said he never calls anyone with this type of recognition…or recognition at all.  In fact, he said this is something that he knows he needs to do more of, and this event inspired him to do better in seeing these good acts that our nurses and teams take.  I was very proud of Kiernan!
