My daughter was born here at West Allis Women's Pavilion. She, unfortunately, needed more care and supervision than most healthy babies. As a first-time mother, this was a very scary experience for me.
Our first night on the postpartum floor we met our nurse Kiersten. She ended up being our night nurse for the next three nights. Over the course of those nights, Kiersten made us feel as though we were her only patients. She made sure to take her time when she was caring for our daughter, and also made sure to explain every single care she was giving. Not only was she extremely professional but she was also very compassionate. With Kiersten, everything felt so natural like this isn't just a job for her. I truly believe she was born to be a postpartum nurse; caring for our daughter wasn't the only thing Kiersten was absolutely amazing at.
Our situation was not ideal and was a very stressful and scary time for me. Kiersten provided me with not only the care I needed after delivering a baby, but she also was huge emotional support for me. Especially at a time in my life when I absolutely need it the most. Kiersten listened to me when I needed it. She offered advice when I needed it and was just an absolute rock for me during my stay. I was an emotional mess a lot of the time worrying about my baby and Kiersten went above and beyond to calm me down and assured me everything was okay. I truly do not know if I would've made it through this experience without her support. She is so passionate about her job and goes the extra mile always.
