She celebrated the little wins, from me being able to walk again for the first time since bed rest, changing my son's first diaper once I was strong enough, and always made me feel seen.
I went through an unexpected induction due to a very quick diagnosis of Pre-Eclampsia. Kiersten was initially there for delivery and was able to follow me to the postpartum care unit to help me with recovery. When my diagnosis switched to HELLP Syndrome, I was honestly so terrified of what was to come. Being on the MAG drip, having constant monitoring, blood draws every few hours, and not being strong enough to hold my own baby was a devastating reality. One that I certainly hadn't even considered to be a possibility. Kiersten was there for me every step of the way. They were there to make me more comfortable, performing small acts of kindness to help me feel like a human again, and assisted me with my son when I couldn't do so on my own.
I will never, ever, be able to repay Kiersten for her kindness towards me. She made me laugh, held me as I cried, and did everything in her power to make sure I was comfortable. She kept my husband informed and lovingly taught him how to best care for my son, as I couldn't. She celebrated the little wins, from me being able to walk again for the first time since bed rest, changing my son's first diaper once I was strong enough, and always made me feel seen. She was truly an angel, and I don't think my mental health would have been half of what it was had it not been for her constant love and support. She made me feel like less of a patient and more of a friend/member of her family. Marshfield Clinic is beyond lucky to have her in its Labor and Delivery unit. They are the perfect example of what loving and attentive care look like. I will never ever be able to repay them for their kindness. But if I ever see them in Target, I hope to be able to give them a tear-filled hug.
