June 2023 Honoree
Kim Beamon, RN
My dad was on the step down unit after becoming septic post prostate removal. He has a severe TBI from an accident years prior, but it makes him unable to communicate. Because of this, hospitalizations are especially anxiety-provoking for my family. Kim was compassionate, patient, and a true advocate for my dad. As a nurse myself, I understand how frustrating it can be when a patient’s family member comes in questioning things, wanting to speak with doctors, nurses, different teams, etc. I had concerns and she listened, asked questions with me, and treated me and my dad with care and respect. She wasn’t afraid to question the providers and their orders. She was a fantastic nurse, and I wish she could have been my dad’s nurse his entire hospitalization.
Thank you, Kim, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
