Kim Benke 2, RN

Ms. Benke has been my manager for almost 2 years and is by far one of the best managers that I have had. She is hard-working, compassionate, and patient. She is meticulous and conscientious and strives to provide excellent service to her staff. She communicates effectively and appropriately with us and really takes the time to listen to what we have to say. She is extremely dedicated to her staff and Veterans and always has an open door. Not only does she welcome us to stop by her office at any time, but she also takes the time to visit us at our workstations. She encourages us to collaborate together and holds staff meetings to encourage this. She understands the importance of work/life balance and works hard to ensure that we have this. Ms. Benke has the ability to establish an excellent rapport with many different service lines including nurses, physicians, and administrative staff. Because of this, she is able to step in and assist us when we run into roadblocks when attempting to provide flawless care to our Veterans. Ms. Benke is self-assured and calmly handles the stress associated with a management position. Many times I have gone to her very frustrated over a situation and she has been able to not only de-escalate me but also the entire situation. Ms. Benke daily represents the ICARE values of the Facility and encourages all of us to do the same. I am very thankful that I have Ms. Benke as my Manager. She encourages me to strive to be not only a better Nurse but a better person.
