I have had the pleasure of working with Kim Fish and having her as my operational supervisor for more than 13 years now. Kim is an exemplary model of what a manager/supervisor should be. Kim consistently motivates staff to do the best they can for their patients. She is willing to lend a hand whether it be answering a call light, giving a patient medication or advocating for the patient with the doctor. She really cares about her staff.
There have been many times when I have talked with her about work-related stress or even non-work-related stress. Kim has been a mentor to me for all of my 13 years here at SwedishAmerican. She encouraged me to go back to school to become a nurse. On days when I was stressed and wasn't sure I was making the right decision, she continued to motivate me and pushed me to be great. She has been a fantastic mentor, fair supervisor, amazing patient advocate, and a caring, compassionate, motivational friend. Kim is a pillar of excellence here at SwedishAmerican and a true DAISY Nurse Leader.

Kim Fish is the most reliable, involved, hardest working nurse I have ever worked with. Kim is straightforward and honest. She is a great communicator. She is not above answering call lights and performing patient care tasks as an operational supervisor. Kim is a wealth of information and a problem solver. Everybody feels comfortable around her and knows she would help with any questions asked. Kim is fantastic at delivering constructive criticism and her nurses know she is on their team and there to support them. Kim creates an environment on the 7th floor based on caring and positivity. I've never worked with a nurse manager/supervisor who is so involved and helpful. She makes the 7th floor a wonderful place to work.

Kim is the rock of the 7th floor. If you ever visit 7, you will see her running around and performing hands-on patient care. It also seems like Kim has the answers to everything, or at least knows exactly where to find the answers! The 7th floor is specific to cancer patients. This can be emotionally hard on our staff as well as the patients. Kim displays compassion and role models what a nurse is. She is deeply involved in the care of all of our patients on our floor. I can recall Kim sitting at the bedside of a patient during a rough diagnosis, on multiple occasions, and when the patient passed, she was seen comforting the family and in tears herself.
I believe Kim is the main reason many staff come to 7, love 7, and stay on 7. Her enthusiasm is apparent. She supports her staff beyond any other supervisor I have known. I honestly give Kim credit to a lot of my success as a nurse because she has been my emotional support and educator. She has taught me how to provide compassionate care and advocate for my patients. We are thankful for Kim more than she will ever know!
