I work at Abington in the NICU, so I’m quite familiar with how wonderful Nemours is, so when our 8-year-old, H, needed ENT and plastics (for a broken nose… by me playing baseball. Oof!).  I knew we would only trust Nemours for his care. I could literally gush for hours about the care (and I use “care” in every sense…actual medical care, but also the compassionate care) we have received, but today, I’m specifically writing to show appreciation to Kim Giordano. Every conversation I’ve had with the Nemours staff about H, specifically this injury, has been so kind, and Kim was no exception. 

Kim immediately knew that we needed an in-office rather than virtual (because obviously I felt bad). When she realized that we were going to be on campus for another appointment, Kim was able to connect with another scheduler and add H in with the doctor earlier that same afternoon…even though it’s not a typical appointment day for the department, but rather a specific clinic day. The fact that Kim understood the relationship we had with the doctor and that she appreciated that this little 8-year-old’s life was impacted and that he deserves to ask his questions with as much time as we would as adults sets her apart in my mind.  H has received comprehensive care at Nemours, and it never ceases to amaze me that every single person truly believes in making healthcare seamless and just make sense. 

As a healthcare provider, it’s the care that I always strive to provide for my families. But as a mother, it just makes me know that H isn’t just a patient to the Nemours system – he’s H…the little dude who loves history and Legos. I can’t thank you all enough, especially Kim this time, for the exceptional service and care you provide, and it is the reason we travel over an hour any time we need this level of care. Keep doing what you’re doing – your teams are obviously engaged and happy – and that translates to fantastic care for us families. I appreciate you allowing me to share this story with you.
