Kim Goodwin, RN, Baylor All Saints Medical Center DAISY December 2009 :
I was being discharged from BASMC after a brutal attack of pneumonia with asthma
exacerbation. Before I left the hospital, I needed to complete paperwork for
short-term disability. Kim was gracious and helpful to fax the necessary papers
to the case manager. Further, she arranged for prescription refills of routine meds
I had not been able to handle. Also, she made several phone calls to both Drs
. Danhof and Osafo to provide continuity of care. She was a calming presence in
the midst of chaos. No request was trivial. She was kind, patient, and caring.
She continued to make her presence known to me and would do whatever I needed. She
was kind to my husband as well. Kim is a shining example of what nursing can be
to a confused and anxious patient. Even if you are a nurse, there comes a time
when you cannot handle you own care. In my time of need, I was lucky to have Kim
care for me. Thank you seems so inadequate. I wish my words could match my deepest
gratitude.
