On New Year’s Day, Kim was assigned to care for a patient who has been here with an extensive length of stay. She went out of her way to provide extremely personalized and compassionate care to the patient. She took the time to visit with his family and participate in their New Year's Day party. The patient had expressed his interest multiple times, in being able to look out a window as he hasn’t left his hospital room in over 3 weeks due to the severity of his medical condition. Kim was able to make the patient's wishes come true. Kim recruited help from the staff, got the patient up to a cardiac chair, and wheeled him not only to a window but to a door where the patient could feel the fresh air on his face for the first time in close to a month. The patient and his family were elated, kept taking multiple pictures, and commented on how wonderful of a day this had been. Kim has made a lasting impact on her Patient’s stay at our hospital and will always be a cherished memory for him when he thinks of his first day of the new year.
