Our baby boy was born 13 weeks premature at 25 weeks 6 days gestation. I had very little warning that he would arrive so early prior to being admitted to the hospital so I was not prepared for an early delivery much less life in the NICU. We have been in the NICU for just over 6 weeks now. Kim approached me during one of my first visits to the NICU and simply asked how I was doing. I have a good poker face and am not one to show emotion but instead of accepting my brief “I'm fine” she went on to offer some words of encouragement and gifted some comforting items and reading material for me to take home. Over the next few days, Kim went out of her way to check on me when she was working and she wasn’t even our assigned nurse.

Today Kim is his primary nurse and she has been such a blessing to our family. She goes above and beyond in everything she does, making sure he is comfortable and cared for as well as us! She educates us on care and gives frequent updates on his care plan. She goes out of her way to celebrate milestones big and small and makes us feel welcome and wanted and very much a part of the team.

Our son has been a NICU Rockstar, and I’m convinced that Kim’s care and guidance have played a major role in that. Kim is a God send and will forever have a place in our hearts.
