Kim Pastrana always goes above and beyond and all to the benefit of her patients, coworkers and surgeons that we work with. She never thinks about herself but does her work for others. She stays late on a regular basis to finish cases so that the surgeon stays happy and so that there is continuity of care for the patient. She is always the last one to take a break or eat lunch and often skips lunch so that the day runs smoothly. Besides working her regular shift she has the task of being the coordinator for the General Surgery specialty. She reworks the preference cards, makes sure supplies are available for their cases and orders specialty supplies to keep the department stocked. Her work is never ending. Now she has taken on the additional task of making out the call and work schedules for the RNFA’s. This is a thankless job & Kim has added it to her plate because no one wanted it. Kim strives to have the department run smoothly.
