During an outpatient visit, a potentially abusive situation was identified between the patient and his wife. Kim professionally and non-judgmentally talked to each of them separately and provided guidance, obtaining agreement from the patient that they should seek support. She facilitated a social service consult with follow-up before discharge. Both the patient and the wife were very appreciative that Kim took care of them much more than "processing the patient for a test."
