This event prompted Kim to pay out of pocket for certification as a loss photographer for our unit.
Kim Webb is an RN in the nursery on the night shift in OB. Kim took care of a mother who experienced the loss of her newborn son. This patient a few weeks later sent a card to the OB unit and thanked all the staff but especially the team member who took beautiful photos and made a memory box (Kim), this box included a lock of hair from her son, footprints, and crib card/ID band. This event prompted Kim to pay out of pocket for certification as a loss photographer for our unit. Kim was not asked to do this but felt so strong after this event to care for all mothers who experience a loss. Kim has gone above and beyond to learn more, refine a needed skill to help our department exceed expectations for our mothers who experience a loss.
