Security responded to a call from a mother in distress who was arriving at the ED with her minor child. Her child was experiencing a mental health crisis, and she needed assistance convincing him to be seen willingly. I went into the ED to find some extra help. I asked Kimberly if she could assist us outside to provide less of an authoritative approach. She was more than willing to assist. Kimberly was able to de-escalate and calm the boy. She explained to him that he was in a safe place. She was so instrumental in calming the situation that I thought it was important to acknowledge her, in my opinion, Kimberly exemplified the core values of PeaceHealth today. Her passion for nursing and helping people were very evident and impressive.
