Mr. M was being evaluated in the IMPACT Clinic for kidney stone surgery. Ms. Cehic ordered a chest X-Ray as part of the pre-op evaluation. This x-ray showed a mass on his thyroid gland. Kim called Mr. M and informed him of the finding. She also ordered a CT scan which got scheduled for 7-8 days later. This time frame was unacceptable to Kim and she pushed to have the CT scan done that day while Mr. M was at VAPHS for another appointment. Kim called Mr. M after the CT scan and after his surgery to check on him and to keep him informed of all updates. Mr. M had part of his thyroid removed and due to early detection, he does not need any additional treatment. Mr. M believes Kim's attentiveness and prompt actions saved his life and the compassion she demonstrated was outstanding.
